For nearly a century, the Master Builders Association has proudly served as the unwavering voice of the general contracting industry in Washington, DC. Founded in 1927 under the visionary leadership of Davis, Turner, and Clark Construction, our organization has continuously championed excellence and collaboration. Through a charter paid to AGC National, we became known as “AGC-DC.”

For more than twenty-five years, “AGC-DC” was led by CEO Cherie Pleasant, who passed away suddenly in late 2023.  AGC National assisted our Board in rebuilding the organization and re-engaging our membership in 2024.  Then, in late June 2025, AGC voted to revoke our charter,  demanded that we cease utilizing the AGC-DC moniker, and appropriated our website as its own.

While we were disappointed in their actions, they prompted the Board to do a significant re-evaluation of our path forward and a realignment with what matters most to our membership. We embraced it as a powerful catalyst for a new and exciting era and were thrilled to announce our rebranding as the Washington Contractors Association (WCA) in late July 2025. This new identity signifies our renewed commitment, and we will build upon our rich legacy with an enhanced focus on:

  • Honoring Our Enduring Commitments
  • Elevate Signature Programming
  • Forging Powerful Partnerships
  • More Focus on Local

We are still the same Board, the same values and mission, but a new name and more focused on building relationships in our local community.
